Caroline and Nolan Turn 1!

About a year ago I did a baby shower cake for a coworker who had twins. Well, Caroline and Nolan turned 1 this month and their mom asked me to make cupcakes for their birthday party! While I can't take credit for the decorative "signs" in the cupcakes or the cupcake stand (their super crafty mom took care of that) I can take credit for making sure the cupcakes were cute and matched the decor! Happy 1st Birthday Kiddos!

Cupcakes start at $1 each and can be ordered by the 1/2 dozen or dozen.

Excel Spreadsheet

Ashlee's boss's birthday is this week. Apparently he is quite the user of spreadsheets so she wanted to get him a spreadsheet cake. Done. Ashlee and her work partner provided me with several inside joke phrases to put inside the spreadsheet's cells....I didn't get it but I hope he finds them funny!
This is a 2 layer white cake with raspberry filling (Ashlee's favorite and standard!). Filled layer cakes start at $40.

Savannah is 1!

HJ's girlfriend, ;) , Savannah turned 1 this month. She celebrated with her family and some fabulous butterfly cakes. Savannah has a sweet tooth so it was chocolate cake with chocolate fudge buttercream for her (and the rest of the guests). Savannah's Momma said she loved the cake and got it EVERYWHERE...which is exactly what every 1 year old should do on her birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAVANNAH!!

Play Ball!

My friend JL turned 32 last week. He celebrated with his son and a bunch of their friends with a pick up baseball game and then a bbq with his friends and family. So we thought a baseball cake would be perfect. I was thrilled with how this cake turned out and I can't wait to make another one some time!

Custom cakes start at $35.

Happy Anniversary!

One of my first "cold calls" (i.e. a stranger who needed a cake) was about a month ago. She needed a sheet cake for a party for her parents' 25th wedding anniversary. Nothing fancy but their wedding colors were pink and grey.

Sheet cakes start at $40.

Grave Digger!

My friend Brooks turned 4 in July and when his Momma asked him what kind of cake he wanted he responded, without hesitation, "GRAVEDIGGER!" Unbeknownst to me, there is a monster truck called Gravedigger. It's black, with green and purple flames on the front, and a graveyard painted on the sides. This is what Brooks wanted....and that's what he got!

This whopper is 6 layers of marble cake with lots and lots of buttercream...black buttercream at that. This cake went to school with Brooks....lots of 4 year olds with black mouths. Yes! Oh, and did I mention that Brooks goes to school at a church. So Gravedigger went to church...even better!

Captain Rex

I had my first "repeat" design! One of my first cakes was a Captain Rex cake for Nate's birthday...well, my buddy Quinn turned 4 and also requested Captain Rex. This Rex, however, is a two layer cake with raspberry filling (Quinn's mom's favorite...!). Quinn is also the lucky little guy who got the R2D2 cake last year! He's got a thing for Star Wars!

Pirates take 2!

A while back I posted a photo of a pirate cake I did for a little boy's 5th birthday. Well, I was afraid that the Captain wouldn't feel all the peeps at the party so I added on some pirate cupcakes to make sure there was enough cake to go around. Here are the Captain's "mates"!

Allergen free Dora

My friend's son Gavin turned 2 in June and he loves Dora so that was the obvious choice for his cake. Gavin however is allergic to dairy, eggs, canola oil and nuts....hummm...cake without diary and eggs? YOU BET! This Dora cake is 100% dairy and egg free!

Rum Cupcakes, Mon!

Our friends Brook and Brian tied the knot in Jamacia this spring and celebrated later with a reception back home. I was honored to create mini versions of their rum wedding cake for their reception. I wish I could take credit for how beautiful the display turned out but I can't...we owe that all to the talented designers of Hillis and Co. I did however make some pretty decent rum cupcakes with rum buttercream!

Cake Scraps

Jamie loves Thursday and Friday nights around here because that's when I do my cake decorating for the weekend. I carve shaped cakes out of square or rectangle cakes resulting in cake scraps. I have yet to figure out a use for the cake scraps...but Jamie has....they go in his belly! Usually he'll grab a piping bag and make what he calls a homemade twinkie. However the other night he grabbed the plate, I plopped some frosting on the plate and he dug in. As you can see, he was very excited about it!

Confirmation

Zach was confirmed in to the Methodist church last weekend and his family celebrated with cake! This is a 9 x 13 marble cake with buttercream frosting. Congratulations Zach!

Going away...

My cousin had a coworker who was moving to Alabama...or was it Arkansas? Whatever! She was moving, they were having a party for her and a gigantic chocolate cake was requested and that's exactly what Kylie got! This is a two layer sheet cake with lots of chocolate fudge buttercream. Hope there was milk at the party!

Shiver Me Timbers!

Parker turned 5 this weekend and wanted a pirate cake. His mom gave me artistic freedom and said I could do whatever I wanted so I found a cake similar to this guy and thought it was adorable and went with it. I love the end result! I wasn't sure the cake would fee all the people at Parker's party so I made some "first mate" cupcakes for Parker as well. Pictures of the cupcakes will follow...they are still on my camera! Happy Birthday Matey!

BAM! POW!

Nate turned 6 earlier this month and celebrated with a Batman party. Nate loved it...and so did I. Happy Birthday Nate!

Husker Birthday

A friend of mine turned 40 this past football season...and she threw him a surprise party the night before the Nebraska v. Oklahoma game. She needed a cake that emphasized his age, celebrated the Huskers and fed a lot of people. So we went with a 4 and a 0 with red Ns all over!

Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes?

Around our house tax day is a day of celebration, it means busy season is over for Jamie and Henry and I get to see a lot more of him! This being Henry's first tax season and tax day, Jamie wanted to celebrate tax day with him. So I whipped up these ice cream cone cupcakes for HJ to take to Molly's and share with his friends!

Baby Shower Cookies

I made these long ago but don't seem to see that I have posted them. These cookies were made for a baby shower...the baby was a girl and was going to be named Lily. (isn't that cute!) And her room was going to be decorated in pink and lavendar. So onesie cookies with lavendar and pink flowers and L monograms were in order!

These are sugar cookie cutouts with royal icing. Custom cutout cookies start at $12/dozen.

More Monkeys...

Not only did Sam take monkey cupcakes to daycare he had a monkey party for his first birthday. So I made a big monkey cake and a matching monkey smash cake for little Sam to tear in to. Both cakes were made to match the monkey on the party supplies. Happy Birthday, again, to Sam!
Big and little cakes together, followed by the smasher and then the big one:

These are round cakes with cupcake ears. Smash cakes start at $10 and custom cakes start at $45.

Dinosaur Superhero?

Sam turned 5 this year...he wanted a dinosaur cake but his party was superhero theme. So we made a superhero dinosaur cake for him and his buddies! Happy Birthday Sam!

This was a large sheet cake that serves 30-35. Custom sheet cakes start at $45.

Henry's First Birthday!

March 31st was an imortant day in the house of the Cookie Bee...our little guy Henry turned 1! We celebrated with lots of family, a giant cake with some safari friends on it and a lion smash cake for HJ (it matched his shirt!).

Before....and after!

The large cake is a square sheet cake that serves 40-50. Large sheet cakes start at $45. Smash cakes start at $10.

Super Mario

Ethan turned 5 this year and had a Super Mario party at Chuckie (or is it Chucky?) Cheese. A Super Mario party wouldn't be complete without Super Mario cupcakes! (I loved doing these as it sent me back to junior high and the hours I spent playing Super Mario on our original Nintendo!)

It was also very important to Ethan to have a cake with his name and age on it so I made him his own personal giant cupcake with, you guessed it, his name and age!

These were chocolate and white cake cupcakes with buttercream frosting. Custom cupcakes start at $12/dozen. Custom "jumbo" cupcake start at $12/half dozen.

Monkey See Monkey Do!

I have made monkey cupcakes before but was never quite satisfied with them...so it was back out to research the world wide web and I found this "style" and I like it much better. So much so that I made them for my buddy Sam to take to daycare for his first birthday. Happy Birthday Sam!

These are chocolate cupcakes with chocolate fudge buttercream frosting (mmmm...)! Custom cupakes start at $12/dozen.

Cakes for Kiddos

My niece and nephew turned 5 this week. She requested a Barbie/Princess cake and he requested a Thomas the Train cake (with yellow frosting, even though Thomas is blue...). This was the first time I got to bake them cakes so I hope these goodies meet their expectations!
